Blog Stats - 28/01/13

    Time for another blog stats breakdown, as I continue to find this interesting and useful.  This moth was actually quite surprising in a few ways.

Views:
    There are 212 total posts, which is an average of 17.6 posts per month.  With a total of 18,861 views (as of the 28th January 2013).  The last few months saw a dramatic change in post rankings, which was actually surprising because everything has been fairly stable until now.  But suddenly the blog was getting a lot of traffic from google searches, especially to do with order of services or memorial books.

    As you can see below, 'Inside a mortuary' has been at the most viewed post for several moths straight, but then in the last two months it has been significantly beaten.

    This was not so much the case for the pages, as although they saw more traffic than normal their rankings did not change much if at all.

    The proportion of Australians is consistently a little less each month, so while overall Australian views are growing they are slowly views from other places are growing faster.  It is interesting as the last few months saw a serious spike in google search traffic, indicating more random viewers.  Yet the demographic of the audience is remaining relatively consistent.


Changes over time:
    Currently there are 18,861 total views of this blog, an average of 1,571.7 per month (as I write this).  This month saw a jump in views, December was only 3,399 but January was 5,553.  A rather sudden increase much like October 2012.  However, in October there were a few industry open days which i wrote posts about.  Most notably the Rookwood one which was linked to by several groups and sites, such as Rookwood Cemetery Facebook and Coffin-Talk.

    From now on I will be doing this graph for the last six months only, so here are both together for an easy direct comparison.

Conclusion:
    These stats were some of the most surprising, I genuinely do not see a reason for such a sudden or large spike in views for January.  Considering the blog only broke 1,000 views in a month about five months ago, and that I do not promote in any way, it has grown so well.  I am really happy with the growth and at this rate will be hitting tripple digest sooner than I realise.
